I use the finest materials in every piece. Hand-selected as if it were a piece of my own (I’m attached to every piece, as love and care goes into each and every bead, wire wrap, and design). Sterling silver is imported directly from Italy. Gemstones used are imported from the gem capital of the world: India.
The journals are truly OOAK (one-of-a-kind). Each cover is handmade from up-cycled boxes, and reinforced by fusing layers together in a timely process. I then select the cover design from designer papers, cardstock, and embellish on them. The inner filler pages are all hand-cut as well. Coptic books are stitched by hand with heavy duty waxed linen threads or thick embroidery threads. I also enjoy sharing the opportunity to design and assemble custom journals and envelope books, and have completed many that will be cherished for years to come.
July 2004 marked the start of what is now MJ Sparks Boutique. It was a dream to run a business of my own, and seeing a spark of the light at the end of the tunnel inspired, motivated, and made me determined to make it something big.
It started so quickly I didn't really have the time to think of a name, so I named the business Manda's Jewelry. It stuck for the next 3 years and then merged with my new product lines of handmade journals, notebooks, and other handmade accessories which came from inspiring color schemes and creative "sparks" I saw in everyday life. I think you see where this is going... the "M" and "J" from Manda's Jewelry served as the base of MJ Sparks Boutique.
I shared jewelry with whoever I could. I attended yard sales, church bazaars, bike nights, festivals, and bead shows. A few local hair salons also helped out and carried around 10-15 earrings to market each month for me.

2008 came along and I jumped on a plane to North Carolina. Not having many resources and connections to event providers, I began the never-ending learning experience of launching a website of my own and also listing pieces on online marketplaces like Etsy, Amazon, Yardsellr (now closed), OpenSky, eCrater, and wherever I could find opportunities to expand the business itself and introduce MJ Sparks Boutique to the world.
